Artists
Angelo Pizzigalo
Angelo’s recent work has focused mainly on painting with spontaneity
and simplification of detail through watercolour and also using a very
individual 3-D mixed media. He enjoys the texture making qualities of paint and
the mixed media enables him to explore the themes of light and space, making
pictures that combine strong colour with exaggerated tones. Being
influenced by the post modern fauvist style painters has recently given him
inspiration to make a picture work more aesthetically as an object of creative
and expressive exploration.
Angelo is a tutor with Kent Adult Education and takes classes at Deal, Dover, Sandwich and Broadstairs in Watercolours, Mixed Media and Drawing, to Beginners up to A Level standard.

Bob Martin
Bob’s last post was at Sandwich Technology School, where he began as Head of Art before developing his current role with Community Arts and Events, as well as teaching art and animation.
He has been very keen to create opportunities for local artists which led to himself and his partner establishing SLATE to enable local art teachers to exhibit as artists in their own right and also CAOS, another local artists exhibiting group. His work reflects his passion for the Post Impressionists and the Camden Town Group. He paints with a limited palette of only three hues and white to achieve his distinctive images. A great deal of his work is concerned with landscape and he prefers to work directly from his subjects In recent years he has returned to carving and modelling, preferring to work with clay and fruit woods.

Julia Baxter
Website: www.calligraphystudio.org
Julia Baxter lives in the Cinque Ports Town of Sandwich, Kent,
in the South East of England. It is here that she works from her home studio as a professional Calligrapher, Artist and Tutor of Calligraphy. Julia teaches calligraphy to both adults and children at her own private classes in Sandwich, and at workshops at local art groups and schools. She is a member of the Kent based calligraphy society The Cinque Ports Scribes of which she has been chairman.
Her art works are a visual expression of an interaction between the freedom of fine art and the discipline of a craft. The images involve letters, words and text with colour and imagery using her calligraphic skills in a variety of mediums including watercolours, gouaches, gold leaf and oils onto canvass, paper, cloth and stone. Often texts are combined with imagery where there is more of an illustrative interpretation of words and moods.

Julie Summer
Julie is currently studying a part time BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art at the University of Creative Arts in Canterbury. This course includes studying the history of art, philosophy and using a variety of media for expression.
Julie is particularly inspired by water and the many patterns it creates. For this exhibition she chose to paint and draw turtles and pond tortoises for which she has a keen
interest.
She has varied the mediums as her preference is to use all different types of paint, and oil and chalk pastel to create different effects. She chooses chalk pastel for the majority of these because she likes the soft matt effect.
